The sixth announced inspection of Casuarina Prison was undertaken in October and November 2016.

Casuarina is the state’s main male maximum security prison. This inspection found Casuarina to be crowded, and struggling to fulfil its multiple roles. Management and staff were competent, but the infrastructure was inadequate.
